
Adele Mara (April 28, 1923 until May 7 10th, 2010), was an American actress, singer and dancer who made appearances in films throughout the 1940s, 1950s, and on television during the 1950s, 1960s and then later. Adele St. Mara became her official name, and she was offered a contract by Columbia Pictures[citation required[citation required]. She also had experience by working on comedy shorts for the studio and B-features. Soon, this was shortened to Adele Mara. Mara began her career as a receptionist for the Three Stooges movie I Can Hardly Wait. Mara as well as Leslie Brooks played the sisters of Rita Hayworth's character the Fred Astaire film You Were Never Lovelier. Brooks is the female lead part in Alias Boston Blackie (1942) in which she plays the sister of a wrongly charged and escaped prisoner. She was transferred to Republic Pictures after her Columbia contract was terminated. In Republic Pictures, she was a part of westerns and outdoor adventures. She was a part in The Vampire's Ghost, Wake of the Red Witch featuring John Wayne, Angels in Exile (leading ladies), Sands of Iwo Jima (John Wayne's love attraction), California Passage (leading ladies) and Don Siegel's Count the Hours(supporting role).
